One co-pilot: Two directions between Belgium and the Nordics & Baltics
I’m a commercial co-pilot. I help founders and leaders grow beyond luck, network and themselves. Cross-border isn’t a separate service, it’s that same work on a route that crosses a border.
Whether you want to land in Belgium from the Nordics or the Baltics, or take off from Belgium toward Finland and Estonia: the flight plan is the same, only the destination differs. What makes me different from a trade mission or a report: I live and work at both ends of the route. Antwerp and Brussels on one side, Tallinn and Helsinki on the other. I don’t just know the runway, I’m also standing in the departure hall.
Belgium – nordic-baltic states
Two directions, one bridge
The same method, two flight directions. And in both cases the technology or the product is rarely the problem. The conversation on the other side of the border is.
Nordic-Baltic companies to Belgium
Nordic-Baltic companies arrive here with a proposition that was self-evident at home, and discover that Belgium isn’t one market but three. What sounded clear in Helsinki breaks apart here into language, sector and decision logic. Decisions run through people and networks, not through a rigid process. I translate your story into what actually lands here, open the right hatches and build momentum until you fly.
Belgian companies to the Nordic-Baltic market
Belgian companies fly toward a pronounced engineering mindset. Nordic-Baltic partners want numbers, sharpness and agreements that hold, and they don’t like surprises. An email without a prior conversation gets you nowhere, a vague value proposition even less. That’s where the loose Belgian approach often falls short. I sharpen your commercial story for that table and open the first doors.
core idea
Nordic-Baltic companies don’t see Belgium as Western Europe, but as Central Europe. In both directions that’s a genuine compliment. For both sides, Germany and France are sometimes too big. It’s precisely in that space between Belgium and the Nordic-Baltic ecosystem that I work.

Why Belgium?
Small, complex, and precisely for that reason a sharp first landing for those who do it right.
- 60% of EU purchasing power within 500 km
- Direct access to EU policymakers and subsidies
- Strong clusters in biotech, fintech, logistics and chemicals
- Three languages and three decision cultures: not a test market for improvising, but one to get sharp
- Flanders the engine room, Brussels the amplifier
Why the Nordics & Baltics?
Not a market for improvisation. But a market that rewards sharpness.
- Decisions on numbers, data and efficiency, not on gut feeling
- Correct and very reliable payers, once you're through the first phase
- Estonia a digital frontrunner, Finland strongly oriented toward the Swedish market
- Compact markets where one good landing spreads quickly
- Slush in Helsinki: one of the biggest tech events in Europe

The pilot’s story: It began with love
I met my wife in Brussels, life took us to Tallinn, and business brought us back to Helsinki. That’s how I literally became a bridge between two worlds.
Proven, one direction. At the Nordic Business Forum I met Rethink, my first Baltic client. Through DNA Discovery they found their true simplicity, and that DNA became the compass for their growth, now in Belgium too. Connected with FIT, VLAIO, AMS, Solvay and Belgian corporates, all the way to the first pilots here.
In the making, the other direction. I’m now actively building out the reverse route, and I’m honest about that. Through FIT, through Slush and through my presence in Helsinki and Tallinn, I see Belgian companies and start-ups hitting the same wall: strong technology, a story that doesn’t match what a Nordic-Baltic table expects. That’s where I am on the ground to sharpen that story and get the first sale moving.

Through the DNA Discovery we found our true simplicity. That DNA became the compass for our growth, now in Belgium too.

The flight plan
Every landing and every take-off starts with a plan. Mine looks like this, regardless of the direction.
1
DNA Discovery
Reveal the essence of your organization, together with Companyonwise. Your DNA is the compass, whether you’re landing or taking off.
2
Ecosystem Mapping
Map the landscape: clusters, partners, universities, networks and decision-makers. In Belgium or in the Nordics & Baltics.
3
Strategic entry point
Together we select the right gateway: academic, corporate or government-related. On both sides of the bridge.
